Role Overview:
As a Transit Operator at MTS, you will be the face of our transit services, responsible for transporting passengers safely and professionally. You’ll operate our fleet of vehicles, including buses, minibuses, and accessible vehicles, adhering to schedules and delivering exceptional service. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in helping their communities and prioritizing safety and customer care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Transit Vehicles: Safely and efficiently drive buses or other transit vehicles on assigned routes.
- Ensure Passenger Safety: Assist passengers, including those with mobility challenges, ensuring everyone has a safe and comfortable ride.
- Follow Schedules: Adhere to established routes and schedules while maintaining on-time performance.
- Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Greet passengers, answer questions, and handle concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
- Perform Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
- Maintain Compliance: Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate with Dispatch: Stay in regular contact with dispatch to report delays, incidents, or schedule adjustments.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Driver’s License: Valid License (BZ preffered)
- Experience: Previous experience in transportation or driving larger vehicles is an asset but not required (training may be provided).
- Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer care.
- Safety-Oriented: A strong commitment to maintaining passenger and road safety at all times.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to assist passengers with mobility devices and perform routine vehicle inspections.
- Dependability: Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
