Assistant Fleet Manager

Role overview:

The Assistant Fleet Manager plays a key role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of MTS’s fleet operations. You will assist the Fleet Manager in overseeing vehicle maintenance, coordinating repairs, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to handle dynamic day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Maintenance Support: Assist in planning and scheduling preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure vehicles are road-ready.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all vehicles meet regulatory requirements, including inspections, licensing, and documentation.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track fleet performance metrics, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee vehicle parts and supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels for timely repairs and maintenance.
  • Driver Coordination: Collaborate with drivers to address vehicle concerns and provide support for efficient operations.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, fuel usage, and fleet performance for analysis and reporting.
  • Vendor Liaison: Coordinate with external vendors for repairs, servicing, and parts procurement.
  • Support Daily Operations: Assist with vehicle scheduling and deployment to meet operational needs.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in fleet management, logistics, or vehicle maintenance is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with vehicle maintenance practices, fleet management software, and regulatory requirements.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain detailed records.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational issues.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication with team members, vendors, and management.
  • Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required (BZ preferred); additional certifications (e.g., fleet management) are a plus.
